i just took a sip of water.

if water bottle companies like arrowhead and aquafina really wanted to 'go green' they'd stop selling their product all together.

feb 7 thought of the day.

its funny how people start caring about the super-bowl when they didn't even watch a single game in the regular season..

i'd rather watch the game than have a party while the game is playing.

but i think superbowl sunday should be a holiday. why not?

the more holidays the better.

Blame it on the seasons and the weather

After a week of rain and wet shoes, I've decided that I couldn't take an entire winter of dreary weather. (I've been dealing with an ongoing sinus infection which makes me not very fond of the air this time of year). This realization comes in good timing because I have been trying to decide where I want to attend school.

"Who cares about the weather PJ, it’s the education that matters", my Mom would say.

I care Mom, thanks for your concern...

I few months back I was thinking the University of Oregon

Weather- Rainy, Cold
Price Tag- Outrageous
School of Journalism- Awesome

Arizona State
Weather- Sunny, Hot
Price Tag- High (any out of state school is, but not outrageous)
School of Journalism- Awesomerrrrrr

Just thoughts though, they change all the time.

We'll see...

Rain

I caught the bus in Chinatown and slept the whole way up by 95. The driver cut and weaved so crazy, just his luck kept him alive, and I guess I believe his rhythm on that morning after New Year's Eve.
And I remember Shanghai and how I wasn't sure just what was safe to eat, the chickens pecked and wandered at the barefoot children hawking figurines of workers smiling
"What's the Chinese word for cheese"?
I watched a sidewalk butcher; his instinctive understanding made the carcass snap and clarify beneath his nimble hand, that held the knife so long, so many times, the handles' changed to shapes just like his fingers and his palms.
It's 2AM in Tokyo and still too soon to call back to the people who will soon begin the day. I polished off and I will walk a mile amidst the neon lights that advertise but I don't know just what they sell.
I tell the taxi driver
"To the park!", in a higher tone.
And his gloves were pristine white, just like the girls I used to know and would wear to
dance their first cotillion, every single one of them named Jennifer. I clutched at the same Christopher
I picked up at some country abbey long ago when I believed he'd keep me safe but it seems the luck he brings is not the common currency of a penny in your pocket.

NFL Talk-Championship Sunday

Amidst all of the AFC and NFC championship excitement, I was stuck at the 'ol job, helping overweight ladies find what size they wear in Sketchers Shape-Ups. I'd tell them that shoes aren’t going to help anyone "shape up" their figure, but then I'd be out of a job. If honesty was practiced, there wouldn't be any salesmen...

So I recorded both games Via AT&T U-verse and watched them when I got home.

Recap:

AFC Championship. NY Jets- 17 Indianapolis Colts-30

It was too bad that the Jets didn't show up on offense in the second half after looking pretty strong in the first two quarters, they maintained a 17-13 lead at the half. But to be honest, the Jets don't deserve a trip to Miami for Super Bowl 44, being 7-7 with two games left in the regular season and finishing out 9-7 after beating both the Bengals and Colts who benched their starters for post-season readiness. I have to give credit to first year Jets head coach, Rex Ryan, Rookie Quarterback Mark Sanchez and Rookie Running back Shonn Green. You wouldn't think they were all newbies to the playoffs, Rex Ryan was gushing with confidence in his team to the media after their dominant victory over the Bengals in the AFC wild-card first round. Perhaps Ryan had too much confidence in his team and played a tad safe in the loss against the Colts. Too many 3rd and 8 scenarios where the Jets ran the ball and fell short of the first down. Yes, they're defense is good but playing it safe against the high-powered offense Colts and Payton Manning gets your team a loss. There always has to be at least one team that comes out of the wood-works and gets hot during the playoffs just look at the Cardinals from last year but too bad for the J-e-t-s Jets Jets Jets, they didn't quite make it to the big game.

There isn't a huge story tell about the Colts. They were the best team in the AFC all season; most anybody could have predicted a Colts Super-Bowl appearance as early as week 8. It’s not a team a particularly excited about, I was hoping the Chargers could have finally done something in the post-season.

NFC Championship Minnesota Vikings 28- New Orleans Saints- 31 (OT)

Bret, what happened!?!?! 45 seconds to go in the fourth, tied 28-28, your team is on the 40, 5 yards away from kicking the game winning field goal to bring the Vikings to their first Super Bowl in 35 years and you throw an interception? You were running out of the pocket, keep running Bret, pick up 10 yards but no, you decide to throw it over your shoulder to an unseen defender. Hmmm, not very Favre-like. Hey Bret, do remember Week 3 against the 49ers? Of course you do, you threw a 35 yard miracle pass at the last second to win the game. My conclusion is that you simply ran out of Favre-like miracles. You cashed them in too early in the season and ran out by the time it really counted. It's karma really, you can't do that to the 49ers, your costly mistake was heartbroken 9er fans payback perhaps (I’m a 9er fan if you couldn’t tell). I bet you want to take it back now dontchya? Oh and the five turnovers during the game didn't help either.

The Saints were the best NFC team in the regular season despite leaving the season on a 3-game losing streak.

The best of the NFC against the best of the AFC for Super-Bowl 44 (Colts vs. Saints), I can't wait. Hopefully I won't be stuck selling gimmicky work-out shoes two Sundays from now...

Pickles

I'm kind of in a pickle, but not really. January is the stepping stone month for the rest of the year and these are my current dilemmas.

1. I'm getting about 4 hours a week at work currently. You'd think after working somewhere for two years, I could at least get three days a week in so I guess it’s time to job hunt. Job hunting in January. Ughhh. Its the slowest month of the year.

I noticed that in December commercials on TV are full of winter joy, families building snowmen, kids sledding sporting bright red scarves. Winter looks amazing. Then January rolls around and the commercials on TV are all about getting sick and not being able to sleep. People are miserable in January apparently...

2. I don't know what to do about school. I've been accepted to Fresno and Humboldt but I've always really wanted to go out-of-state. Should I settle for a state school that doesn’t really impress me or wait another year and go out of state next spring or fall? Oh the decisions...I will have to decide soon...

I'm off to work now, first day in 12. Cheers.

Remember remember the 5th of November

My blogs have been seriously lacking lately, it seems I have fallen off the face of the earth since October...

So what’s been happening in the three month void of blog non-existence?..Well I'll tell ya..

"Nothin’ really..."

Okay okay, I know what I've been up to these past months but put yourself in this situation:

An old acquaintance takes a double glance and recognizes you at the grocery store, you never had a close relationship with this person and you haven’t seen them in 3 months or so. He/she approaches you and asks " Hey (Your Name) how ya been? , Whatchya been up to?" How would you respond?

My mind would quickly try to lump three months of my life and I would simply blurt out

"I dunno, nothin’ really, working, going to school, same old stuff, what about you?"

While I'd criticize myself afterwards...

Yeah, awesome response parker, you're a really interesting guy...FAIL.

I don't remember what I did in the month of November really...I guess I ate turkey...I' d have to stop and really think about what I did before sharing it with anyone because if asked on the spot, I'd have no idea. What did I do last Thursday? What was I wearing? What food did I eat? What was a conversation I had? Who cares? Probably nobody but I like to look back and remember the little things.

So I have decided to buy a little flash drive camcorder and document basically every day of my life.
I'm tired of summing things up, it’s so boring that way...
